Our Verdict

Despite its drawbacks, this is a basic, great-sounding, and well-thought-out looper that’s fantastic for getting started. With the new Ditto, TC Electronic has taken this perspective to heart, removing all of the “non-essential, mood-killing tech hoopla,” as TC describes it, to create a looper designed purely for guitarists.

The Ditto is a ‘plugin and loop’ concept, with only an LED, loop level control, and footswitch adorning the tiny ‘nano’-sized chassis. The Ditto is the same length as TC’s PolyTune Mini at 92mm, and the enclosure, like the tuner, is really too small to house a regular PP3 nine-volt battery. According to TC, most remote power adaptors should suffice.

Users can’t help but be impressed by the Ditto Looper’s combination of sound quality and ease of use, even if it is restricted in comparison to other pedal-based loopers available. And, while the price does not include a power source, and its small size may necessitate some operational compromises, there’s minimal risk of misunderstanding about how to use it.
