Description
In this review post, we’re going to be discussing the Catalinbread Karma Suture Silicon Harmonic Fuzz, including an overview of its unique features.
Product Description
The Catalinbread Karma Suture line was inspired by the rare Harmonic Percolator. Not just a clone, we’ve expanded the potential by adding the exclusive Density and Diodes controls coupled with months of fine-tuning to get everything just right. You’ll find great sounds through the rotation of all the controls. No matter how you have the pedal set, the tone and response is always alive, sensitive to your every playing nuance.
Silicon Karma Suture ups the gain, output, and brightness with two silicon transistors, still in PNP/NPN configuration, along with a pair of silicon diodes, configured for asymmetrical clipping.
Whether you’re using the Karma Suture as your standalone dirt box into your amp or you’re using it to boost, overdrive, and enhance your existing dirt pedals, you’ll be greeted with harmonic distortion laden with even-order harmonics – sweet and musical, even with complex chord voicings. Both models provide you with amazing even-order harmonic distortion with distinct personalities. If you’re familiar with the difference between a germanium and silicon fuzz face, then those qualities apply to the Karma Suture as well – germanium gives you a thick, sweet response with a softer picking attack. Silicon provides a more immediate picking attack with a more aggressive tone.
So, you’re thinking, is it a fuzz? Yes! Is it an overdrive? Yes! Is it a sparkly boost? Yes, again! Karma Suture’s four control layout allows you to dial in a huge range of harmonically rich tones that sound great into clean amps and as well as overdriven amps. Or into a foundation overdrive, such as the Dirty Little Secret. It can work equally well with vintage single coils and hot humbuckers.
The Karma Suture will reward your good tone intentions by lacing up your sound with awesome harmonics that bloom and bloom, turning your power chord into a tantric event!

Our Verdict
In all, this is a fantastic pedal. It took us a couple of days of tweaking knobs and moving it about the pedalboard chain to get a sense of how knobs interact and what sounds you can get out of it. There is no manual or anything like that on the official page to assist you to grasp what the knobs do, so you will have to play for a while because the controls are highly interactive. In terms of fuzz, it’s not as harsh as we thought, but the character is pleasing, and with chords, you get the clarity that everyone is raving about.
In a typical live gig setup, it is extremely useful to place the Suture before a fuzz (blackout effectors twosome), with the Karma Suture delivering a clean/breaking/boost into the fuzz, and the guitar just shines like never before, the fuzz becoming snappy, open, with nice transients, rich chords, and sparkling sustain. The clean/breaking overdrive is ideal for rhythmic clean (quick) guitar since it produces some clean chords and an open tone. This pedal is highly recommended, but it truly comes to life when stacked. For the time being, the OCD and SHO, which normally take turns first in the chain to boost and model the clean, are looking for suture-rich harmonic content instead.
