Our Verdict
Even a brief browse through the 200 presets on board was enough to persuade us that the Mooer GE150 represented excellent value for money. It is, indeed, a scaled-down version of the GE300’s lineup, with roughly half as many models available, but we believe we have the top of the crop here, and surely enough to satisfy the great majority of players.
On the clean side, standouts include the Mesa Mk3 and Jazz 120 models, and chuggers will love the 5150 and Engl Powerball sounds, but tweak-freaks will be significantly constrained in contrast to GE300 owners, with only three or four settings, and we’re not fans of the pitch shifter. However, the delays and reverbs are more than adequate elsewhere.
We have no hesitation in recommending the GE150 as a first or new multi-effects unit, especially if adaptability and credible tones are more important than soundscaping.
